I am from sweet tea and peach cobbler
From Catholics, Quakers, and Methodists
People divided between faith and land
People who moved on and held on
Leaving their songs, dances, and medicines on the shores of other lands
For something better
From the solitude of violins and mandolins
From books on heads to straighten spines
From brokenness as a means to be whole
From afternoons of TV and cereal and wandering in woods
And meeting up with friends in graveyards.
