TV Cabinet Makeover

No one wanted this TV cabinet and the owners were moving, so I picked it up. I was in good structural shape, just banged up a few places. I cleaned it up and gave it a light sanding to even out the surface in places.

Once again I used Annie Sloan’s Amsterdam Green chalk paint. One liter of this paint has been enough for multiple big jobs. The paint may seem expensive, but it covers very well so you need fewer coats.

TIP Purchasing high quality products will save you time and money in the long run. For example, I thought Annie Sloan paint was overpriced. But one can of paint has lasted a very long time and saved me time and frustration. And then there was the time I bought cheap spray paint that ended up not covering well and leaking. It was messier and took more cans and longer to paint. In the end, I think I ended up spending more money.

Before & After

The hardware on this piece could not be removed and had lots of curves and edges. Initially, I was going to the leave the hardware alone. However, once the piece was painted, I thought it could use some brightening. I decided to add gold paint to the hardware to brighten it up.I used gold acrylic craft paint to lightly paint the hardware. Once everything was fully dried, I added a coat of matte polycrylic paint to protect it.
